Nicolas Valentin Neculai grew up in the communist orphanages, experiencing firsthand humiliation, deprivation, and the inner struggle to remain human within a system designed to strip away one’s humanity.
The Author
Today, he is not only the author of this book, but also the voice of those who never had the chance to speak.
Having himself grown up in the orphanages of that era, he rebuilds from shards of soul and memory the path from darkness into light. It is a lesson in survival, in resilience, and also a brutally honest radiography of a regime that suppressed not only freedoms, but childhoods.
From Abandonment to Fulfillment
I was born into a world that did not welcome me with open arms. Abandoned from my very first moments, I was thrown into the communist orphanages, where I came to know beatings, humiliation, and the hunger for love. I grew up in deprivation, yet I did not give up.
Life took me to Spain for 24 years, where I came to understand the meaning of freedom and dignity.
Today, I have built Berryland - not just a business, but a dream made true. I created it to see thousands of children laughing alongside their mothers, to hear the words “mum” and “dad” said thousands of times—words I myself never said. Berryland is the place where I transformed pain into joy, and scarcity into abundance.
Proof that it is possible. That no matter how deep the abyss, there is always a path toward the light.
